3-Year-Old Equipment: Normal Aging or Improper Operation?

After three years, RO system performance will drop. But is it normal aging or operator error? Normal aging is slow — output falls 2–3% per year, rejection drops slightly, pressure rises gradually. Abnormal aging is fast — sudden output drops, rejection below 95%, pressure spikes. Common causes of damage include chlorine breakthrough, recovery rate too high, overpressure, and no shutdown protection. Check your logs. If decline is gradual, maintain it. If it's sudden, find the root cause and fix it. Don't confuse aging with abuse.
